Training Course : Monday 25 August and Tuesday 26 August morning

Introduction to the theories and methods of design for agrifood systems transition in the making.

Overview

As part of the FSD8 Conference, an international team of researchers is offering a free Training Course. This course will take place prior to the official start of the conference, on Monday 25th August and the morning of Tuesday 26th August.

Objective

The aim of the Training Course is to introduce participants to the theories and methods of design  for agrifood systems transition in the making.

Course Content and program

Drawing on international research experiences, the course will help participants explore the relationships between “design,” “agrifood systems transition,” and “in the making” through several key activities:

  • Presenting a variety of theoretical frameworks on design processes related to agrifood systems transition in the making,
  • Sharing diverse methods and tools to analyze, engage in, or support these design processes,
  • Providing resources (experts, references, etc.) and guidance on how to leverage them within participants’ own research programs.

Learning Outcomes

The Training Course aims to enhance participants’ reflexivity on (i) theoretical frameworks, (ii) the use of methods and tools in their research, and (iii) their roles and stances within design processes. Please note that due to the limited duration, practical application of the methods will not be included.

Target Audience

This course is especially intended for scientists who are not experts in design or innovation processes—particularly PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career researchers—whether practitioners or not, who are interested in situating their work within this field.

Registration Information and fees

If you wish to attend the Training Course, please complete the pre-registration form below as soon as possible and no later than June 20th. Because places are limited (maximum 30 participants), the organizers may need to select attendees based on the applications received. You will be notified of the decision by June 27th.

Please note that the course is free of charge for participants registered for the FSD8 Conference.
